The Peoples Democratic Party invited police and other security operatives to put its national headquarters in Abuja under protection.
Channels TV reports that the PDP leadership explained that the move became necessary to prevent the construction from the attacks by hoodlums.
Gurama Bawa, the party national director of administration, disclosed that based on the information made available to them by the security, there were plans to attack some PDP officials at the headquarters.
He further expressed hope that with the presence of operatives, both the headquarters staff and property would be safe.
Meanwhile the chieftains of party, which is currently in the opposition, after 16 years of leadership, have recently disclosed that it was hard for them to act against the ruling party. The PDP national publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh, accused the All Progressives Congress of subjecting them to the machination and conspiracy.
