Dr Hauwa Esther Kadima, a 61-year-old mother of four, an accomplished professor of languages, and a published author, was beaten to death at her home in Longview, Texas.
Her last child, 31 year old Daniel Kadima called the police to alert them of a person lying dead in her apartment.
The Police was called to her home on Tuesday, July 28 and she was found beaten to death with a bloodied chair lying next to her body.
According to autopsy findings, Dr Kadima had fractures to her skull with laceration of the brain because of blunt impact to the head. Daniel had beaten her to death with the chair.
Daniel, who had called police was arrested the next day.
His ex-wife later told police about how she had suffered years of abuse in his hands and also a detailed history of his mental illness.
Daniel is been held at Gregg County Jail while they investigate the murder. However the motive for the killing is not yet known
Dr. Kadima was a long-time professor of languages and mass communications at the University of Jos, where for many years she also served as a Head of Department.
She was born in 1953 in the village of Bakin Kogi in the southern part of Kaduna state
