A Rivers state high court sitting in Port Harcourt early today, Thursday, August 20, 2015, has dismissed the suit filed by a former governor of the state, Rotimi Amaechi. Rotimi Amaechi Punch reports that the court sitting challenged the setting up of a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to probe his administration. Recall that Nyesom Wike, the state governor, had instituted the Justice George Omereji-led judicial commission of inquiry to investigate all the state assets sold during the Amaechi administration. But Amaechi had gone to court to challenge the setting up of the commission. Justice Simeon Amadi however made it known that the judicial commission of inquiry was not created to probe the personal activities of the former governor but to checkmate his past activities as they affected the people of the state.
